New Delhi-headquartered project management firm Nuberg EPC has won an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from Casablanca-based Société Cherifienne d’Fertiliser-Chimie (SCE Chemicals) for a chlor-alkali plant at Jorf Lasfar Industrial Park in El-Jadida, Morocco, with the plant set to produce caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hypochlorite chlorine upon completion.

In a statement, the Indian firm said that the plant, which will be equipped with bipolar membrane cell technology licensed from UK-based Inovyn — a joint venture of chemical industry giants Solvay and Ineos — would be completed in end-2020.

Commenting on the contract win, chairman and managing director of Nuberg Engineering, AK Tyagi, said the company would help build the plant alongside SCE Chemicals.

General manager of SCE Chemicals, Moutawakkil Abdelkebir, noted that chlorine derivatives produced from the plant would be used for disinfection and water treatment industrial processes.

The Moroccan firm produces and markets products such as sulphonic acid, sodium silicate, sodium laureth sulphate, and aluminium sulphate.
